Changes to the coronavirus job retention scheme

The Coronavirus job retention scheme (Furlough) has been extended until the 30^th September 2021.

The level of grant the government contributes towards this will change from the 1^st of July 2021. From 1 July 2021, the government will pay 70% of wages up to a maximum cap of £2,187.50 for the hours the employee is on furlough. To be eligible for furlough employers must continue to pay furloughed workers 80% of their wages, up to £2,500 per month.

The below table shows the level of contribution available until September 2021.

Employers can continue to choose to top up their employees’ wages above the 80% total and £2,500 cap for the hours not worked at their own expense.
